- Layer half of the potato slices in a 9x13-inch baking dish.

- Repeat the layers, starting with the remaining potato slices.
- Sprinkle with salt and pepper to taste.
- Top with the remaining cheese.
- Bake for 45 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and the top is golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and let cool for 10 minutes before serving.
