Cream Cheese Cinnamon Rolls

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese softened
  • 1/2 cup confectioners' sugar
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
  • 8 oz cream cheese softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon

Method
 

Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Combine flour, sugar, and salt in a large bowl.
  3. Activate yeast by mixing it with warm water, then let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  4. Mix the yeast mixture with the dry ingredients, then add eggs and butter, mixing until a dough forms.
  5. Knead the dough for 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  6. Roll out the dough into a large rectangle, about 1/4 inch thick.
  7. Spread cream cheese mixture evenly over the dough, leaving a 1-inch border around the edges.
  8. Sprinkle cinnamon over the cream cheese mixture.
  9. Roll the dough into a tight log, starting from the long side.
  10. Cut the log into 12-15 equal pieces.
  11. Place the rolls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, leaving about 1 inch of space between each roll.
  12. Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
  13. Glaze with a cream cheese frosting while still warm.
