Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 cup uncooked white rice
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 small onion diced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes

Method
 

Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Brown the ground beef in a skillet over medium-high heat, breaking it up into small pieces, until it is no longer pink, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Add the rice to the skillet, stirring to combine with the ground beef, and cook for 1-2 minutes.
  4. Season the mixture with salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the rice is tender and the liquid has been absorbed.
  6. Remove the skillet from the oven and Let it rest for 5 minutes before serving.
  7. Serve the Ground Beef and Rice Skillet hot, garnished with chopped fresh herbs if desired.
