Homemade Glazed Donuts

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 2 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter melted
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Confectioners ' sugar for dusting
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp whole milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Method
 

Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C).
  2. Mix 2 cups of all-purpose flour, 1/2 cup of granulated sugar, and 1/2 teaspoon of salt in a large bowl.
  3. Add 1/4 teaspoon of active dry yeast and 1/2 cup of whole milk, mixing until a smooth batter forms.
  4. Knead the dough for 5-7 minutes until it becomes elastic and shiny.
  5. Let the dough rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size.
  6. Punch down the dough and roll it out to about 1/2 inch thickness.
  7. Cut out donut shapes using a donut cutter or a glass.
  8. Fry the donuts in hot oil at 350°F (180°C) for 1-2 minutes on each side, or until golden brown.
  9. Drain the donuts on paper towels to remove excess oil.
  10. Glaze the donuts with a mixture of 1 cup of powdered sugar and 2 tablespoons of milk, adjusting the consistency as needed.
