Pastel Rice Krispie Treats

  • 2 cups Rice Krispies cereal
  • 12 oz marshmallows
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Food coloring (various colors)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup sprinkles or nonpareils
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Method
 

Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Melt 3 tablespoons of butter or margarine in a large pot over low heat.
  3. Add 3 cups of marshmallows and stir until they are completely melted and the mixture is smooth.
  4. Remove the pot from the heat and stir in a few drops of pastel food coloring.
  5. Add 6 cups of Rice Krispies cereal to the pot and stir until the cereal is evenly coated with the marshmallow mixture.
  6. Press the mixture into a greased 9x13-inch baking dish.
  7. Let the treats cool and harden for about 30 minutes.
  8. Cut the treats into desired shapes using a cookie cutter or a knife.
  9. Serve the Pastel Rice Krispie Treats and enjoy.
