  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 8 ounces cream cheese softened
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Method
 

Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C)
  2. Mix cake flour, granulated sugar, and baking powder in a large bowl until well combined
  3. Add unsalted butter and mix until the batter resembles coarse crumbs
  4. Whisk in whole milk, large eggs, and red food coloring until smooth
  5. Divide the batter evenly among cupcake liners
  6. Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean
  7. Allow the cupcakes to cool completely in the pan
  8. Frost with a cream cheese frosting, if desired
  9. Decorate with sprinkles or edible decorations, if desired
