Strawberry Basil Lemonade

A refreshing summer drink made with strawberries, basil, and lemon juice.

  • 2 cups fresh strawberries hulled and sliced
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves
  • 1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 4 cups water
  • Ice cubes

Method
 

Instructions
  1. Combine strawberry puree, lemon juice, and basil leaves in a large pitcher.
  2. Muddle the basil leaves with a muddler or the back of a spoon to release the oils and flavor.
  3. Add sugar to the pitcher, stirring until dissolved.
  4. Mix in water to the pitcher.
  5. Chill the mixture in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours to allow the flavors to meld together.
  6. Strain the lemonade into glasses filled with ice to serve, removing the basil leaves and any strawberry solids for a clearer drink.
