  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter melted
  • 4 slices of bread
  • 1 cup hulled and sliced strawberries
  • 2 tbsp strawberry jam
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Powdered sugar for dusting
  • Maple syrup for serving

Method
 

Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C)
  2. Slice the bread into 1-inch thick slices
  3. In a shallow dish, whisk together eggs, milk, and a pinch of salt until well combined
  4. Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat
  5. Dip each bread slice into the egg mixture, coating both sides evenly
  6. Place the coated bread slices on the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, until golden brown
  7. Butter a baking dish and arrange the cooked French toast slices in it
  8. Spread a layer of strawberry filling on each French toast slice
  9. Fold the French toast slices in half to enclose the filling
  10. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, until the French toast is puffed and the filling is warm
  11. Serve the strawberry stuffed French toast warm, garnished with additional strawberries if desired
  12. Dust with powdered sugar before serving
